Is getting into top Bschools like Harvard, ISB, Duke etc getting tougher?

Well, getting into top B schools was never easy. But, during the last couple of years it has become all the more difficult to crack a Bschool admission.

According to the latest GMAC statistics year 2008 saw the maximum number of GMAT takers and maximum number of applications in the history after 2001-02. This can be attributed to the global recession which started in 2008 and has motivated more people to willingly or unwillingly leave jobs and to make them equipped with a MBA degree and better knowledge. By the time they will come back into the workforce the job market will be better and they will have an additional degree, thus they will be able to beat the competition.

It’s a simple demand supply fact. The demand is increasing and will be much more in 2009 and there are limited number of great Bschools. Though schools like ISB are opening up new campuses but the demand will grow much more disproportionately than we can imagine.
