ISB Placements for Class of 2010

Earning a MBA degree from one of the reputed business schools is not an easy job. It requires a lot of knowledge, skills and determination to get admission into a renowned B school. Then come the huge expenses to continue studies in a business school. After all these, it’s quite natural for MBA students to expect placements in some multi-national corporation with a lucrative salary. Keeping that in mind Indian School of Business (ISB), one of the leading business schools in India, introduced rolling placements system nine years ago. This is a system that provides both the students and the recruiters a platform to select the most suitable option out of the lot. It takes quite a few months to complete the process of placements as all the students are provided with series of campus interviews from different recruiters. The ISB authority is also planning to expand the duration of the placement process as they are trying to ensure better placement opportunities for each of their students.

Recently campus interviews for the class of 2010 were conducted by ISB, Hyderabad and 346 leading domestic and international companies took part in it. The placement process which continued for couple of months proved to be a successful one as number of job offers increased up to 33 per cent this year. Moreover, salary offers from the companies also had a notable hike of eleven per cent as compared to that of last year. 586 students of this year’s ISB class had interesting variations in their backgrounds and experiences. There were students with 2 years of experience as well as those with 20 years.

Although there is an overall increase in job offers, yet 116 per cent increase in technology, 40 per cent in consulting, and 30 per cent in finance can be stated as hallmarks of ISB’s success in rolling placement system. A lot of companies represented the ‘Green Energy’ sector in this year’s campus interviews. This is the first time that companies from this sector took part in ISB placements and hopefully this new trend will continue to yield fruitful results for ISB students in future.

Majority of leading domestic and international companies hired from ISB this year. STAR India, Citibank NA, Deutsche Bank AG, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, ICICI Bank, Royal Bank of Scotland, A.T. KEARNEY, Accenture Services, Arthur D. Little Asia, Booz & Company, Deloitte Consulting, Diamond Management & Technology Consultants, McKinsey & Company, The Boston Consulting Group, Aditya Birla Group, ITC Limited, Colgate-Palmolive (India), PepsiCo India, Philips Electronics, L&T, Cognizant Technology Solutions, Bharti Airtel, Google India, and IBM India are just a few among so many other companies that picked talents from ISB this year.

Global Leadership Programs from countries like Italy, Hong Kong, UK, Switzerland, Germany and Singapore were offered to some of the students in different sectors such as Financial Services, Pharmaceuticals, Aviation, Information Technology, Agribusiness and Luxury Goods, etc.

Mr. Ajit Rangnekar, Dean, ISB, said after announcing this year’s placement results, “I am humbled by the confidence that companies have reposed in us once again, by choosing ISB students to augment their talent pool. Our students come with a rich and diverse experience, and their transformational year at the ISB has helped them to boost their capabilities and move along their chosen career paths.”

With more than 3000 successful students employed throughout the world, ISB is undoubtedly the best Business school in India and one of the bests in the world.
